Albano Laziale – From prevention to treatment of thyroid diseases
“Little salt, but iodized” this was the message that emerged at the meeting held on Sunday, May 24 at Palazzo Savelli, as part of World Thyroid Week, in the presence of a large number of interested physicians.
The conference organized by the Municipality of Albano Laziale – Department of Social Policies, by the Azienda Sanitaria RM H and the Regina Apostolorum Hospital, as part of the Networked Services Project launched on April 15, saw the interventions of Prof. Enrico Papini and Dr.ssa Serafina Mastroianni who spoke about the’ care impact of thyroid disease in general practice with the coordination of Dr. Guglielmo Rinaldi National President AME Association of Medical Endocrinologists.
Dr.ssa Dominique Van Doorne, endocrinologist and head of the European Eupati program, explained the’ usefulness of the careful use of iodized salt in the prophylaxis of thyroid diseases.
Representatives of the institutions present, the head of Social Services Dr Margherita Camarda, health director dr. Narcissus Mostarda, Asl RmH Director Dr Stefania Casaldi, District Director Dr. Pierluigi Vassallo, General Director Sister Annamaria Gasser and Regina Apostolorum Health Director Dr. Maria Teresa D’ Agostino, stressed the importance of coordination and sharing of guidelines for the prevention and treatment of chronic social diseases, such as those of the thyroid and diabetes
“Balanced diet and careful use of salt from early childhood and mandatory use of iodized salt in school canteens at all levels”, This was the commitment, in conclusion, of Councilman Delegate Gabriele Sepio, who also confirmed how this obligation will be included in the next tenders for the supply of meals in school canteens.
